Last night, Love Squad hosted its second and biggest event to date, Love Squad Speaker Series at NYC33 in partnership with Footlocker’s Six:02. The sold out event featured DJ John Michael, a fun and sweat-filled HIIT workout led by Certified Fitness Trainer + Holistic Nutritionist, Niki Klasnic (@sugarysixpack) followed by a panel discussion with Alex Silver-Fagan (@alexsilverfagan), Melissa Wood-Tepperberg (@melissawoodhealth), Niki Klasnic (@sugarysixpack), and VP of Marketing for SIX:02 Kirta Carroll (@kirtacarroll). Panelists discussed how to find balance while pursing a successful career, fitness as a lifestyle, making time for friends and family, and most importantly taking care of self! Given that we promote individuality, what is a real conversation without different opinions. We were able to provide a well-rounded point of view on these issues that pledge most people; organization, career path, and self discovery. The panel was moderated by our Love Squad founder Ally Love (@allymisslove) on the Pursuit of Balance: Career, Competition, and Self-Care.. Our amazing speakers talked about their personal career journeys – both versatile and vertical – and how they find moments of peace and balance in their fast-paced lives. As a part of our #showuswhatsreal campaign, a theme that will be continuing on our blog over the course of the summer, our panelists got real about their sometimes winding paths to get to where they are today, how to break out of the habit of comparing your success to the perceived success of others, and how its okay for your dreams and goals to change as you go through life.

One of our favorite quotes from the evening, by Alex Silver-Fagan, turned out to be one of the biggest themes of the evening. Our panelists touched on competition vs inclusiveness, and how despite the pressure we put on ourselves comparing our accomplishments to those around us, there is room for everyone to find their niche in their chosen careers. Ally Love talked about the difference between being active and productive, and that we should break out of the mindset of assuming that just because you see someone all over social media they are being more productive or achieving more success than you are.
The evening ended with raffle giveaways courtesy of Six:02, FRE Skincare, and Dash Dot!
We would like to thank our amazing sponsors – SIX:02, Erin Condren, EAS AdvantEDGE, Sweetgreen, Verday, Muscle Milk, Sound Tea, MAKE UP FOR EVER, Core Water, FRE Skincare, Adidas, and Redbull, our panelists, the amazing DJ John Michael (@djjohnmichael), and NYC33 for hosting us!
And of all of course a HUGE THANK YOU to our guests for coming our for a great sweat-session and conversation!
Can’t wait to see you all at the next Love Squad Speaker Series event!
