Right on time for our Love Squad Social it’s time to meet our instructor for the day: Sasha Lynn! Sasha grew up in a little town outside of Washington D.C. She started dancing and performing professionally at age 15 working with various dance companies and theaters in the D.C. area. With high hopes, and some high kicks, Sasha decided to move to NYC at the age of 18 to continue her career. After moving to the city Sasha got straight to work dancing for NYFW, television, and music videos.
Shortly after that Sasha started traveling the world dancing for Carnival Cruise Lines for several years. She met her husband at sea and now is back in the city dancing up a storm and is a NASM certified Senior Trainer at AKT in Motion. She’s had some unbelievable experiences as a fitness instructor at AKT. From training celebrities, dancing on Live! With Kelley, and partnering with Adidas and Karlie Kloss for photoshoots and fitness events to name a few. She can’t wait for you to come join her under the disco ball for a killer sweat session soon!

WHEN YOU’RE TIRED AND CANNOT PUSH ANY FURTHER, WHAT DO YOU TELL YOURSELF?
I go to this deep focus my mind where I don’t give myself a choice. I tell myself I will and CAN persevere no matter what (taking a few deep breaths also helps)!!! You would be SO surprised what your body can endure if “can’t” is no longer an option!!!
Absolutely everything! Everything I do comes from a deep love I have inside me that I want to share with the world.
WHATS YOUR FAVORITE THING TO DO?
Dancing of course and taking walks with my husband— they are definitely both tied for first.
ULTIMATE DREAM / GOAL
I’ve been training since I was kid to be a Radio City Rockette, so that would be at the top of the short list of dreams I have.
THE MOMENT YOU KNEW YOU WANTED TO START FITNESS?
My interest started in high school. My dance training came from a place where we weren’t allowed to dance till we were strong and conditioned athletes. It was very intense, but I loved every minute of it!—and most of all I saw the results in how cross training made me a MUCH stronger dancer (in my body and mind). Then at my arts high school my major was in dance and we were required to study anatomy. Learning about the science behind the movement I was making really sparked my interest in fitness and sports medicine and how it went hand-in-hand with being a professional dancer.
COFFEE OR TEA?
BOTH! A small black coffee or an almond milk latte before 11:00am. Anything after that is an herbal tea or the occasional matcha latte for a little afternoon treat! And lots and lots and lots of water.
MY FAVORITE COUNTRY IS:
My husband is from Croatia, from a stunning region called Istria— and I’m obsessed. It is literally the most beautiful place on earth. I am certainly not opposed to retiring there many moons from now ;).
IF YOU COULD BE ANYTHING IN THE WORLD, WHAT WOULD IT BE?
If I wasn’t a dancer or trainer—I would want to work with rescuing and rehabilitating animals back into the wild!
WHAT’S IN YOUR BAG RIGHT NOW?
MacBook Air, sweaty nikes, gold beats, always my lacrosse ball for rolling out tight muscles on the go!, blueberry RX bar, a little bag of mixed raw nuts, Eos coconut lip balm, gum, water bottle, several pens/highlighters, and my “bible” with all my lesson plans, choreography, and notes for classes/privates!
